LONDON (AP) - German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle says that North Korea's recent provocations are unacceptable and escalating a tense situation.
Speaking on the sidelines of the G-8 foreign ministers meeting in London on Thursday, Westerwelle said that all of the ministers are "convinced that this escalation of war rhetoric needs to end."
The G-8 talks are expected to focus on North Korea and the civil war in Syria.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry met with Syrian opposition leaders in London on Wednesday to discuss ways to step up nonlethal aid to rebels.
Westerwelle on Thursday said that Germany is against arming the rebels because of the risk weapons could fall into the hands of terrorists.
