TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Are Florida Republicans tired of Gov. Rick Scott and ready to dump him in the 2014 primary?
That's the buzz starting to build following Scott's surprise announcement that he will support an expansion of Medicaid in Florida under the Affordable Care Act.
Agriculture Commissioner Adam Putnam was one of the first Republicans to criticize that choice. Putnam believes Florida will end up paying the extra cost and he thinks the state can't afford to provide health insurance to more people.
Now an anonymous Web developer has created a "Draft Adam Putnam for Governor of Florida" website.
It says "Floridians are asking today for Adam Putnam to declare his candidacy for Governor of Florida."
The website also encourages visitors to sign a petition in support of the idea.
Putnam is not commenting on the website. His former campaign manager issued a statement saying Putnam has "consistently said he is looking forward to seeking re-election as Commissioner of Agriculture."
