Mitt Romney's campaign is proclaiming Paul Ryan has been a successful
addition to the GOP ticket, touting an increase in fundraising,
volunteers and social media metrics.
Tomorrow will mark one week
since Romney announced the Wisconsin congressman as his running mate.
The Republicans proclaim the ticket is "America's Comeback Team."
"It's
clear that his choice has reshaped the race in a positive way," writes
Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades. "The Obama team's vitriol is a
sure sign that they're rattled by the pick."
Some measurements heralded in the Romney campaign memo released today:
Fundraising:
About $10.2 million has been raised online since Ryan made his debut.
The money comes from more than 124,800 donors, with 68% being new donors
to the GOP campaign.
Facebook and Twitter:
Romney has about 4.4 million fans on Facebook, an increase of over a
half million in the past week. Romney's Twitter followers have grown to
over 861,000. Ryan's VP page on Facebook has more than 860,000 fans.
There are more than 118,500 followers of @PaulRyanVP
Volunteers: The campaign says more than 45,000 people have signed up online.
President Obama's pollster Joel Benenson
argues in his own memo that the Ryan choice isn't all what Republicans
say it is. Benenson cites polling figures from Gallup and others that
Romney hasn't gotten an immediate bounce from the VP pick.
