JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Candidates and voters got a chance to meet one-on-one at the Chamber of Commerce's Political Hob Nob at the Hyatt Regency Riverfront.
Last year's event attracted nearly 1,000 people who took part in the two hour event that was held before local elections. The August 14 election locally has voters making decision on state senate races, school board and judges.
Part of the Hob Nob is a straw ballot, where people cast a vote to give some sense of which candidates could prevail in the upcoming election.
According to WOKV, which conducted the straw poll, Republican Connie Mack beat Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson for U.S. Senate and GOP presidential nominee Mitt Romney beat President Barack Obama 263-137.
