JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is investigating a deadly pedestrian-involved vehicle crash that occurred near Arlington early Monday morning.
At approximately 1:20 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 12 JSO officers were dispatched to the 900 block of Lee Rd. in regards to a vehicle crash with injuries that involved a pedestrian.
Once officers arrived on the scene, they found the pedestrian in the northbound lane of Lee Rd. Rescue units pronounced Samuel Lane O'Steen Jr. dead on the scene.
According to authorities, the vehicle, a Chevrolet Impala, was driving north on Lee Rd. when the driver struck the pedestrian in the road. There were no witnesses to the crash. It has been reported that both the driver and the passenger of the Impala are cooperating with authorities.
The Traffic Homicide Unit has been notified of the incident and will be conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash. As of 3:30 a.m. on Monday morning, Lee Rd. between Lone Star Rd. and Atlas Dr. is closed.
