ORLANDO, Fla. -- An Orange County bus driver is in jail Saturday. He is accused of molesting a student he met on his school bus.

Javier Mendez, 35, was arrested Friday after he went to the Winder Garden police station and told officers he wanted to register as a sex offender for molesting a student who rode his school bus.

According to an arrest report, Mendez would leave his home and take about a 5 mile trip to meet the student at a church off of Hempel Road outside of Orlando.

Mendez had his first appeared in Orange County Court Saturday.

During the investigation that student admitted that Mendez did not force them to do sexual acts and that student said they wanted to do it.

Mendez told investigators that he met the student in August of 2012 but the relationship did not become physical until august of 2013.

At that time Mendez told investigators he started exchanging nude photos with the student via text message and on Facebook.

During one of their meetings--- the arrest report says Mendez even brought his 7-year-old daughter along.

Mendez was still locked up on Saturday on Lewd Molestation charges with a $2,500 bond. He has been a school bus driver since 2008.

At this time Orange County school leaders have not been officially made aware of the charges against him. Once they are, his employment with the district will be in question.
