BRUNSWICK, GA -- A messaging service that connects students with faculty is a technological tool that Glynn County schools will employ to promote safety.

"Talk About It" is a program that allows students to email or text message tips about school problems. The program does not compromise a student's identity.

Deputy Superintendent, Algie Davis, likes what technology can deliver. "We as adults are visitors of technology, our kids are inhabitants of technology," Davis told First Coast News. He described messaging as a "perfect fit."

Glynn Academy principal Davis Baker says this service has another feature that's helpful, "We can communicate back and forth." Baker says the option to request more information from a student is invaluable.

Four middle schools and two high schools will start using the messaging service later this year. In a few weeks, staff will be trained and students will begin getting their user identification and pass words.

The service has an annual cost of $18,000.
