JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The coldest air this season is here. Clear skies and chilly temperatures will affect the First Coast.
Wednesday's breezy winds are letting up allowing the beaches to drop to 60 degrees by dawn. Expect much colder readings inland from the upper 40s to low 50s.
Highs will moderate through the rest of the week until another cold front passes by late Friday early Saturday. This one will move through without much rain. Enjoy more great weather through the weekend with mild afternoons and cool to chilly nights.
Tuesday was the warmest day in more than a week. Then quickly Tuesday night, temperatures dropped 18 degrees in 6 hours to a low of 54 at the Jacksonville airport. Thursday morning will be even colder.
Tropical Storm Nicholas is about 2700 miles southeast of Jacksonville or 1000 miles west of the Windward Islands. Nicholas is headed WNW at 8 mph and packing winds of 50 mph. It is expected to slow down and could become a hurricane.
So far, the season has been extremely active with fourteen named cyclones. This season is the seventh busiest year since 1900.
