Young Student Becomes Author

By First Coast News Staff

JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FL -- A local elementary school student can add author to her resume.

11-year-old Bailey Johnson attends Seabreeze Elementary in Jacksonville Beach.

She watched copies of her new book, "The Three Lady Fish" roll off the presses in San Marco.

It all began as a class assignment. Her teacher asked everyone to write a story similar to "The Three Little Pigs."

Another teacher read Bailey's work, liked it, and got the ball rolling to turn it into a book.

"I think it's incredible. I never thought that it would be a book," said Bailey. "So I was just writing, having fun, making up ideas, but this is incredible. I still can't believe it."

The book will be available this weekend at the Borders store on Southside Boulevard.
