Despite their name, the Acid House Kings are about the furthest thing from dance music imaginable. Despite their minimalist aesthetic the Acid House Kings are actually more in awe of Burt Bacharach than beats per minute.

Their new album, Sing Along With Acid House Kings, is the first release since 2002?s masterful Monday?s Are Like Tuesdays and Tuesdays Are Like Wednesdays and shows the band continuing to move to beat of a different drummer. With a bevy of influences that include everyone from Motown to Sarah Records and The Association to Camera Obscura, the Acid House Kings offer up a rich tapestry of delicate jangly pop that?s almost been forgotten about in today?s aggressive musical climate.

Sing Along With Acid House Kings is a nearly perfect album of summery pop that will shine brightly in the dark of winter and stay cool during the dog days of summer. The songs bristle with pop sheen and lilt with glee. Whether it?s the girly, "This Heart Is a Stone," or the shuffling tweeness of, "Tonight is Forever," Sing Along With Acid House Kings is a beauty.

The album is sugary sweet and a delight to listen to and the shared vocals of Nikalas and Julia are a perfect combination of boyish charm and girlish giddiness. And with original guitarist Joakim back in the band the songs are even closer to being miniature pop masterpieces.

Sing Along With Acid House Kings is innocent, carefree, and fun. It is the kind of album that first loves fall in love to. It?s the sort of album that makes your heart skip a beat and gives you Goosebumps. Acid House Kings are masters of creating charmingly exquisite pop songs and Sing Along With Acid House Kings is overwhelming proof of that!
