JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A swirl in the clouds on the other side of the Atlantic was upgraded to a tropical depression Friday evening. This system is about 3700 miles away from Jacksonville. It is closer to Africa than the United States. This is not a storm that would grow into a hurricane and head towards the Caribbean because the steering currents are different. The typical Bermuda high is in an unusual position which will send TD 19 northwest before stalling as a ridge builds across the Mid-Atlantic.
Winds are at 30 mph and the location is 11.8 N 32.9 W.
A low located near Belize has not shown signs of organizing into a depression. It has some potential this weekend of becoming one as it moves toward the Yucatan and southwest Gulf.
