JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Jacksonville's own Rashean Mathis will be staying in his hometown for at least the next five years.
The Jags talented 3rd year corner has agreed to a five-year contract extension worth a reported $25.5 million with $10 million in bonuses.
A starter in all 32 games during his first two seasons in the league, Mathis has seven career interceptions and 162 tackles.
He was a 2nd round selection out of Bethune Cookman College in 2003, the 39th player chosen overall.
Mathis went to Englewood high school and was a one-time First Coast news star performer.
