JACKSONVILLE, FL -- St. Augustine reported a wind gust very early Saturday morning of about 70 mph at the pier.
Mayport at one time had a wind gust of 47 mph. Counties west of Duval and Clay didn't get much from the storm as Charley mainly hugged the coastline before pushing off into the Atlantic east of St. Johns County. Now that Charley is out of the picture for us, our focus turns to two more storms in Atlantic.
The closer one is Tropical Storm Earl with wind speeds of 45 mph. Earl is moving to the west and by Wednesday afternoon is likely to be in the Caribbean just south of Cuba. The other system is Hurricane Danielle with top wind speeds of 100 mph. Danielle is 635 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands and moving towards the west-northwest at 16 mph.
Other than that, tonight will begin turning quieter with the storms ending around sunset. Some areas of fog will likely develop with lows around 71 to 73 degrees. A couple of us may see a morning shower on Monday, but the majority of us will wake up to partly sunny skies. More rain and thunderstorms are likely for late in the day, but Tuesday and Wednesday look nice, although hot, with more in the way of sun and less in the way of rain.
