JACKSONVILLE BEACH, Fla. -- Sally White married Joe White nearly three years ago. She said she misses her friend and her husband.

"I just want to to give my husband a final resting place," said White.

Her husband died two weeks ago of a heart attack. White said, "He was loved by everyone in the community."

His body was transported from the hospital to a funeral home. It has been in limbo for two weeks waiting for the Department of Veterans Affairs to issue a death certificate.

"I feel like I am dishonoring my husband by not burying him," said White.

White said she provided his honorable discharge papers and still feels she is getting the run around. She contacted On Your Side and we contacted the City of Jacksonville Military and Veterans Office.

The funeral home told her that the VA will sign the certificate so her husband can get a proper military funeral.

"I was told that the VA's medical examiner will sign the death certificate," said White.

White said the service will be conducted at the new Jacksonville Veterans cemetery and her husband's remains will be cremated.
