JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- After seeing Blue Hippo's approval-guaranteed policy, Allyson Washington decided to buy one of the company's computers.

"They said I could build my credit and purchase a computer at the same time, which is what I decided to do," said Washington.

The college student paid the Baltimore-based company $69.70 every two weeks starting June 2008.

"I paid them so much I have a store credit of $743," said Washington.

In July, she paid the shipping and handling fees, and was expecting her Hp 550 laptop. But Washington said Blue Hippo has done nothing but give her the run around.

Washington said, "They said it would be 10 to 11 weeks, and every time I call they would say give us a little while longer."

She said she wants what she paid for, a laptop computer.

"I was hoping to have my computer by summer. I just want my computer and a refund of my money," said Washington.

Blue Hippo did not return calls to On Your Side. The Federal Trade Commission did.

"We did take prior action against Blue Hippo, and a settlement was reached," said spokesperson Betty Lordan.

"If consumers continue to call our complaint line reporting problems with a company such as this one, then that tells us the problems that led to the initial complaint may still exist. For this reason, we always encourage consumers to contact our Consumer Response Center."

Washington said she will file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission.

There currently is an investigation being handled by the  Economic Crimes Division in Tallahassee. We'll have info on how to contact the division -
