HONG KONG (AP) -- Struggling U.S. consumers are leading to a slump in Asian markets.
Investors appear disheartened after Wall Street's lackluster Tuesday, following an unexpected drop in a key measure of confidence among American consumers.
The news suggests U.S. shoppers won't be shelling out for Asian imports any time soon. It has also detracted from a string of positive company earnings reports.
Major markets in Asia fell by about 1.5 percent or more.
