JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Residents on Yvonne Lane look forward to Tuesdays and Fridays with mixed emotions, on those days the trash is picked up.
Joel Howe says, "The garbage trucks just drive around the Cul De Sac and tear up the area and when it rains it becomes a mudhole."
Howe says he's complained to the city about the road conditions and it is only getting worse.
Residents say the trucks are so heavy they have created an eight foot wide rut that, when it rains, turns into a mess.
"And it leaves stench," says Robin Pano. "The water sits there so long it smells like a sewer after a while," she adds.
Residents say the city told them it is their responsibility to fix the road, which left them puzzled.
"It is a public street and it is not a gated community," says Howe.
City Spokesperson Kristen Beach says the rights of way division will reassess the situation to see how they can help mitigate the problem. She says the waste contractor has also bee advised of the problem.
