
NEW YORK (AP) -- Stock prices ended little changed in the latest session.
Johnson & Johnson stock ended lower after reporting its quarter earnings. It told of a 5 percent drop in sales.
The Dow fell nearly 15 points to 9,871 a day after coming within 69 points of the 10,000 a level.
The Standard & Poor's 500 index fell 3.00 to 1,073, the first loss after six days of gains. The Nasdaq rose less than a point to 2,140.
On tap today, the Commerce Department releases September retail sales numbers. Also, the minutes from last month's Federal Reserve meeting are due for release.
