NEW YORK (AP) -- A rally failed to stick by the end of the trading day Monday.
After remaining in positive territory through most of the session, the market ended mixed as tech shares faded.
The Dow gained about 21 points to 9,886. The S&P was up nearly 5 points to 1,076. And the Nasdaq shed less than a point to 2,139.
Earnigns from Intel and Johnson & Johnson are due today. Also, the Federal Reserve releases the minutes from last month's policy-setting session.
