
NEW YORK (AP) -- Steady gains were seen for stocks last week, making for the market's best week in over two months. The rally lifted the market to its highest level this year, putting the Dow within 150 points of the 10,000 mark.
The index rose 78 points Friday to 9,865. The S&P gained 6 points to 1,071. And the Nasdaq surged 15 points to 2,139.
For the week, the Dow jumped 377 points or 4 percent. The S&P was up 46 points and the Nasdaq gained 91 points, 4.5 percent gains for both. Year-to-date the Nasdaq has risen most, up about 36 percent.
