
WASHINGTON (AP) -- A jam-packed day is on tap for investors monitoring the economy. The day's reports begin with the weekly jobless claims from the Labor Department, along with August personal income and spending from the Commerce Department.
Later, the Institute for Supply Management releases its manufacturing index for September. And the National Association of Realtors reports on pending home sales for August.
Also, major automakers report their monthly sales numbers for September. Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke testifies about new financial regulatory rules before the House Financial Services Committee.
