JACKSONVILLE BEACH, FL -- "I have cancer. I am going to fight this. Put up a fight. Don't lose sight!"
Valerie Russell wrote those words in her journal nearly 7 years ago, as she battled breast cancer.
Today, Valerie is cancer free and say she doesn't take any moment for granted.

She explains to Good Morning Jacksonville news anchor Joy Purdy, how she found her cancer and how her work with it isn't done.
"I want to be genetically tested," Valerie explains, with her 2 children in mind.
She's hoping the controversial tests will give them, as well as her siblings, a better chance at fighting any type of cancer.
