JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Merrill Road Elementary needs some heroes. If you can donate any of these items on the principal and teachers' wish list, take your donation to the school.

The budgets are tight now and any help would be appreciateed.

The school is located at:
8239 Merrill Road in Arlington
(904) 745-4919
duvalschools.org/merrillroad

Here's the wish list:

  • Clorox or Lysol Wipes (clean tables in classrooms and the café)
  • Antibacterial Hand Sanitizer
  • Baby Wipes
  • Reams of copy paper
  • New clothes for the clinic 3T to 10 (even undergarments)
  • Dry Erase Markers (every child has a dry erase board and a marker to assist with individualized instruction)

Other large ticket items are:

  • Ink for the teacher printers - it runs about $125 from the local store per printer
  • School-grade tricycles for the PK classes
  • Canopies for the PreK Playground for shading purposes

We do have a couple of our PreK Developmentally Delayed children who are in need of clothing:

  1. A four-year-old boy who is wearing his big brother's clothes. He wears a size four or five, but comes to school in size 14.
  2. A four-year-old boy who is from Afghanistan and is coming to school in clothes inappropriate to the season, and they do indeed have limited family resources.
  3. A four-year-old boy who comes to school clean and tidy, but his wardrobe is limited.
