JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The Red Cross locally sent a two-person disaster relief team to Atlanta to help flood victims for the next two weeks.
Severe storms triggered massive flooding in four Georgia counties around Atlanta, creating major problems for businesses and homeowners.
President Obama has issued a disaster declaration freeing up emergency assistance for those hardest hit by flooding.
Rose Keyes is on her way to Atlanta from Jacksonville to lend a hand.
Keyes is a veteran volunteer with the Red Cross, having worked hurricanes and wildfires.
"There's going to be a lot of mud in the houses. So we are going to be right there and support them," said Keyes.
Chance Craven is mobilizing young people to join in the relief effort as part of his ministry called "itsChance."
Craven says between 25 and 40 young people will headed up to Atlanta this weekend on a mission of help and hope.
"I feel hope has just been washed away with the flood. We are going to get in there and restore that hope," said Craven, who is coordinating the effort with Celebration Church.
