Her first book was inspired by the horrific events of September 11, 2001.
Nancy Yi Fan wrote her first book at age 12, and is one of the featured authors at this weekend's Florida Heritage Book Festival in historic downtown St. Augustine.
She hopes to inspire other young people to read and even write their own stories.
Friday and Saturday, book enthusiasts are welcome to visit different vendors selling their literary wares, as well as participate in seminars being held during the festival.
One keynote speaker is former U.S. Senator Mel Martinez, who's scheduled to discuss his journey from Cuba to the U.S. Saturday during a luncheon.
The winners of a local poem writing contest will also be announced, awarding several St. Johns County high school students monetary prizes!
