JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Kimberly Clarke owns a hair salon in Riverside and said she wants to help kids feel confident going back to school.

Clarke dropped by Good Morning Jacksonville Sunday to demonstrate on Sarah, a student heading back to school Monday. Sarah got 10 inches of hair cut off and a new look for her first day.

She also wanted to donate her hair to Locks of Love, a nonprofit that collects hair to make wigs for children.

Through the United Way and First Coast News "Be a Hero" program, Clarke plans to help parents Sunday, Aug. 23rd by giving any student from K through 12 a haircut for free.

The idea, of course, is to help families pinched in these tough economic times.

The details:

Kimberly Clarke Salon
2546 Herschel in Riverside
Sunday, Aug. 23rd
11-4

(The salon is a big, yellow house on the corner of Barrs and Herschel.)
