JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Joyce Fraser has been a food stamp recipient for the past four years, but for the past three months she has been without her benefits.

"They sent me a letter saying I would be ineligible for the months of June, July and August," says Fraser.

Fraser says the reasons stated are incorrect. Fraser says she lives alone and there's no one else in her home receiving the same benefits as the state says.

Fraser says, "It is horrible."

She has had to borrow food from her neighbors.

"I can't buy milk, cheese, meats like I am accustomed to," says Fraser.

She says she has called the state agency out of frustration and still nothing. She contacted On Your Side and we contacted the state agency.

John Harrell is a spokesman.

"After we heard from you, we checked and there was an error in the processing of her benefits,"says Harrell.

Harrell says there has been a 40 percent increase in the number of clients wanting food stamp benefits, and the state agency is trying to keep up with the demand.

"We are moving to correct Ms. Fraser's situation and will restore her benefits immediately," says Fraser.

Fraser says her benefits were restored and she's pleased.

Harrell says anyone having a problem should call 1-866-76-ACCESS or 1-866-762-2237.

He says the state has started a new service called "My Access" where clients can go online and setup an account so they can check on their benefits.
