JACKSONVILLE, Fl -- When it rains, even if its a quick downpour, the folks on Stein Street are concerned.

"Look at the front of the street, it takes a week to dry out,"says Joyce Barnick.

Barnick says she has fought for years to get some kind of relief. "It is the city's drainage system, they never clean it out."

Clovette Adams lives next door. "My backyard is a mess. I'm afraid it is affecting the foundation of my home," added Adams.

Desperate for a solution, Adams has hired someone to dig a ditch to improve the water run off. Barnick keeps two sump pumps available to keep the water from entering her home.

'On Your Side' contacted the city, and city officials met with the families on Stein Street.

They determined that the water is coming from a drainage system on the adjacent private properties.

But the city plans to flush out its end of the city's drainage system and hope this will give the folks on Stein Street the much needed relief before it begins raining again.
