KINGSLAND, GA -- Some doctors in Georgia are our heroes because they're offering folks screenings, which could save their lives. And they aren't charging a penny.

Physician Assistant Andrevius Jefferson says the medical screenings would cost around $500 if someone had to pay out-of-pocket.

Click on the video to meet three men who all can prove to you why screenings are so important.

One of them, the father of a basketball player, says his son might have died without an EKG screening.

EKGs, PSAs, screenings for blood pressure, anemia, blood sugar, and also mammograms, vision checks, BMI tests, and more will all be available this Saturday, August 8th.

Plus, attendees will get free BBQ and refreshments, some free school supplies, and $5 CPR cards.

Dr. Marvin Jones and his colleagues at Camden Urgent Care are inviting everyone to attend. (That includes folks who don't live in Camden County as well.)

The Health Fair and Fun Day is from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Camden Recreation Center in Kingsland, behind Camden County High School.

There will also be a fire truck and ambulance tours, fitness education, games, and a bounce house.

You can also join a 5K Fun Run to benefit the Camden House, a shelter for battered women. (The shelter is short on funding now. Organizers are asking for a $15 donation to participate in the Fun Run. Prizes will be awarded.)

Registration for the 5K opens at 6:30 a.m. and the race begins at 7a.m.

Jeannie Blaylock will be at the Health Fair mid-day to talk about Buddy Check 12 and give out free Buddy Check kits.

If you need more information, the phone number for Camden Urgent Care, the Health Fair organizers, is 912-882-2910.
