ATLANTIC BEACH, FL -- Police Chief Michael Classey has been cleared of creating a hostile work environment and harassing a female officer.
An internal investigation handled by the city involved questioning 13 Atlantic Beach officers and the department's former police chief.
Officer Renee Jackson lodged a complaint against Classey accusing him of "improper conduct and touching."
Attorney Margaret Zabijaka was hired to investigate the officer's claims. A nine-page report, released on Friday, detailed the allegations and the conclusion reached by Zabijaka after interviewing police staff.

Chief Classey, according to the investigator, did not create a sexual hostile work environment for Officer Jackson, nor was she treated differently because of her sex.
The report did include the observation that several employees had a dislike for the Chief and his management style. The investigator noted that is a separate issue of whether Chief Classey sexually harassed Officer Jackson.
Chief Classey, who had previously declined to comment on this personnel issue, could be not reached for comment on Friday.
