ATLANTIC BEACH, FL -- Police Chief Michael Classey is finding himself the target of questioning after a female officer lodged a complaint questioning his behavior.
The Coastal Florida Police Benevolent Association is handling the claim made by Officer Rene Jackson.
Police union president Vince Champion says the allegation involves "improper contact and touching" by Chief Classey.
Champion says Atlantic Beach has hired an attorney to investigate the officer's claims.
Classey would not comment on the personnel issue or even confirm he's the subject of an investigation.
Classey joined the Atlantic Beach Police Department three years ago and became the police chief last October.
"Nobody likes change," said Classey, when asked about the climate within the department. "Change is met with resistance," he said.
City Manager Jim Hanson, reached late Thursday afternoon, told First Coast News the investigation has wrapped up, and he will share the findings with the chief Friday morning and make the report available to the public after that.
