JACKSONVILLE, FL-- A look at Max Zahn's walls and there's no mistaking his allegiance. His passion for Florida State is what first connected him with Jim King.

"He loved the school. He and Linda went to all the games both home and away. They sat about 20 seats away from us and he always had these big bright suspenders. He also started a program to make sure that other teams who came to Doak Campbell Stadium were treated well," says Zahn.

Zahn says for all the thousands King gave to the Seminole Boosters, sportsmanship was always first.

"He was just a happy guy who wanted to do the right thing," Zahn says.

Zahn had a personal connection with King as well. He says Jim introduced him to his wife and even helped him propose.

"Dated her for about three years and then Jim helped me create a banner that said 'Eva will you marry me?', and we'll be married 20 years in September," Zahn says.

The thing Zahn says he'll remember most though, is that no note or call to King ever went unanswered.

"He always took the time to call or write a personal note to Max, or Donna, or Doug. He taught me how to do that and I still remember it to this day," he says.
