JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Twenty One years ago, Sara Montgomery was a bookkeeper with a Jacksonville flooring business when she decided to change jobs.
"I loved my bosses and where I was working, but they weren't giving me trips to Europe nor diamond rings," says Montgomery with a smile.
She quit and went into Direct Sales, working at home.
"I went to a show. Fell in love with the jewelry so I signed up to go through a trial program," says Montgomery.
She says she has been a sales representative for Jewels by Park Lane ever since.
Montgomery says, "As you know I am on social security, which doesn't get it all done, so this help pay the bills."
She sells her jewelry at shows, private parties and over the Internet. She is now a Division Manager, which means she also has sales reps working for her.
"I have found that jewelry is very easy to sell," says Montgomery.
She says it is fashion jewelry which is attractive and affordable.
Montgomery says getting started is easy, but offers a word of caution. "Watch out for companies that have an expensive start up fee," she says.
She says also check the company's history and at least three of its independent contractors.
"That's what I am, I am an independent contractor," says Montgomery.
Montgomery says because working at home gives you flexibility, you can set your own schedule and determine your own earnings. She would encourage anyone, man or woman, to give it a try.
"It is fun and I thinbk it is keeping me young," says Montgomery.
