Senior Citizen Gets Home Restored

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- An elderly woman in need of major repairs to her home gets help from local companies and a team of volunteers.

Inez Williams' home was falling apart and she wasn't sure what to do about it. Her roof was bad. The ceiling was collapsing. She had water damage on the inside of the home. She went to her insurance company who referred her to Paul Davis Restoration of North Florida.

"We came out to repair her roof. We do insurance restoration. It was not a covered claim. There wasn't a lot of money for this issue but we thought so much of Ms. Williams and how nice she was to all of us that we decided to take it on as our annual project," said Michael Mumford, of Paul Davis Restoration.

Paul Davis Restoring America Program is an annual home improvement initiative to help those in need in local neighborhoods. Everyone who works for the company and with the company joins in to help.

Inez waited patiently under a tent in the front yard as the volunteers went to work on her house, fixing the roof, putting in new carpet, painting and remodeling her bathroom and kitchen.

"It is a blessing," said Inez.

The workers have been at the house since Tuesday and Inez is anxious to get back inside to see how everything looks. When she does go inside, she will be able to use a new ramp to go inside and out. "All and all we're giving it (the house) a good once over. A good clean home, putting her in a nice fresh home."

Inez can't wait to live in her new, old home. "I haven't been inside yet. I'm excited about the place."

The total value of donated repairs is estimated to exceed $15,000.
