JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Consumers considering the purchase of a new car are finding one more reason to get off the fence.
The government is now offering credit, as much as $4500, to the purchase of a new, more fuel-efficient vehicle.
David Hodges, Chief Operating Officer of the Scott-McRae Group, says his Duval Ford dealership is qualified and ready.
"This program will stimulate the economy and it is a win for consumers," said Hodges.
To qualify, your trade-in vehicle must be no more than 25-years-old, must be working, insured and have a clear title.
"You can't have a lien on the vehicle," says Hodges.
But the biggest qualification is the vehicle's EPA rating.
Hodges says, "The new vehicle has to show you have improved the gas mileage two to ten miles-per-gallon."
The program runs through November 1, 2009. The government has set aside one billion dollars for the Cash for Clunkers program.
