ORANGEBURG S.C. -- A mother gave up her baby at an Orangeburg Hospital Department of Social Services officials say.
The newborn girl was left Saturday at the Orangeburg Regional Medical Center.
The child--which weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces--was abandoned by the mother, who said she didn't want the baby.
The child was left under Daniel's Law, which allows people to leave babies at certain locations, including hospitals, and not face prosecution, as long as the child is unharmed.
The child was picked up from the hospital Tuesday, and will be in foster care until a custody hearing can be scheduled.
