ST. PETERSBURG, FL--Theresa Harrison and Tom Watts expected sunshine on their trip to St. Pete. Instead, they woke up to showers.
"I hear the rain outside and, all the sudden, I am hearing it come closer, on the side of the bed, it's raining profusely," said Harrison. During the couple's second night of a two night stay at Bayway Inn on S. 34th St., they woke up to water pouring in from a crack along the ceiling.
"I didn't expect 5-star services, but I didn't expect rain in the room," said Watts. Their clothes and bags got wet in the process. The two believe the leak didn't just happen overnight, but manager Hari Handa of the Bayway Inn says he had no idea about the cracks in the room when he checked them in.
"They came out at 9 o'clock saying, 'I am in 202, the roof is leaking.' The first question they ask is, 'Can I get a refund?'" said Handa, who saw the crack and agreed to refund the money for that night.
Now, the couple says they hope to put their rain-soaked room behind them and head home for sunny California.
