JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Many of us have a favorite place. For Susan Samtur, it is the supermarket.

"This is my favorite place in the world because I find the best deals," says Samtur.

And she is right. The retired school teacher has made a living finding and using coupons to save hundreds of dollars.

Samtur collects coupons and creates a list of items matching her coupons before going to the store.

And when he hits the store the first thing she does is find the store flyer with items on sale.

"I look for what is good by itself," says Samtur.

She showed us how using her technique a bottle of shampoo that's on sale for $1.77 will cost her less than one dollar.

"I'm gonna get it for 77 cents and save $1.00." says Samtur.

Samtur says what she does begins at home clipping and organizing coupons.

She says, " All of this is based on the purchase of national brand products using a national brand coupon against the item when it is on sale so you can take it to any supermarket."

Her shopping is done in categories so when she is finished with one aisle, she's finished.

"That way I don't take extra time in the supermarket,"says Samtur.

She adds," It keeps me focus, the longer you stay in the store the more you're going to spend."

Samtur says her money saving strategies were born out of necessity. She and her husband were school teachers trying to raise a family on their salaries.

"We never could make ends meet so we started to think what we could do to save," says Samtur.

Samtur says companies issue $300 million worth of coupons a year and consumers fail to take full advantage of the offers.

Samtur says, "Only two percent are being used."

After walking around the store for about an hour she headed to the check out counter. Samtur had purchased $133.70 worth of groceries, but she wasn't finished.

Before reaching for her coupons, she again stated empathically the benefits of coupons.

"It really does pay and anyone can do it, men or women, it works equally as well," she said.

Then she gave the clerk her coupons and coupon after coupon her total started shrinking.

When she was finished she paid $8.67 for a basket full of groceries, including meat.

Using her coupons, Samtur had saved a whopping $127.02.

"$8.67, that's a good day," says Samtur.

Samtur has taken her tricks of the trade and compiled them in a free publication called Refundle Bundle. She says she also buys items with cash rebates and has been able to earn an extra $200 a month using rebates.
