JACKSONVILLE, FL -- There are changes at local Winn-Dixie stores. The grocery store chain launched a redesign campaign at its 51 stores in the Jacksonville area.

Mary Kellmanson, Vice President of Marketing for Winn-Dixie Stores, Inc., told First Coast News, "Winn-Dixie is very focused on the customer." She says each store is also concentrating on being "Fresh Checked Every Day." This means you will see fresh vegetables, fruits and even flowers as soon as you walk into a store.

Kellmanson told us this is part of the Jacksonville-based chain's promise to the community. Winn-Dixie filed for bankruptcy in February, 2005, and emerged from it in November, 2006. After that, Kellmanson said the company promised "to get better all the time." She feels the upgrades and improvements at all the stores have put the grocery store chain back on the right track.

Customers are seeing a new look and a new brand at the store. Some of them also got a free gift card Wednesday morning. As part of the kick-off for the new brand, employees gave away $5 gift cards to the first 51 customers. Several people lined up outside before the doors opened at the store at the corner of San Jose and University Boulevard.

Kellmanson believes customers will like the changes at their neighborhood store.
