Fuel Additive Spill on the Southside

JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Investigators are looking into a fuel additive spill on the Southside. It happened early Friday morning at the West Philips Center.

Sgt. D. J. Valentine, with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, told First Coast News dispatchers got a call at 3 a.m. that there was a theft of a trailer involving a fuel additive. During the theft, he said there was a spill of the additive.

Brown liquid was spilled all over the ground in the area. The center is located on Philips Highway between JTB and Baymeadows Road. The smell was so strong, you could smell it at JTB and Interstate 95.

Crews have cleaned up the area. The Department of Environmental Protection is investigating the leak. Jacksonville Sheriff's Officers are handling the case of the stolen trailer.
