JACKSONVILLE, FL -- Close friends and neighbors are painting a clearer picture of what happened at a pool in Arlington that left a young mother and her daughter dead, and a young man in the hospital.

Police have not identified the third person at the pool, but friends and relatives of the victims identified him as Andrew Gomez, a lifelong friend of the family.

Friends remember Tiffany Cecconi as having a smile that would light up the room and that she often would go to the pool. Friends remember her as a good swimmer.

Cecconi, 18, is now dead, along with her daughter Kaylani. Police have not released a cause of death.

Andrew Gomez' myspace page shows recent conversations with Cecconi. He writes on his web page how he's short tempered. He also left a posting that threatened those who double crossed him.

Laurie Juhan is the mother of Cecconi's best friend.

Juhan told First Coast News Tiffany's mother went to the neighborhood pool in the Cove subdivision Wednesday morning to check on her daughter and granddaughter because it started to rain.

When she got there, Juhan said Cecconi's mother saw Gomez naked, in the pool, with his arms stretched out and in a daze. Juhan said Cecconi's mother wondered why the man didn't help.

But neighbor Bill Reynolds did. He rushed over during the chaos.

"A lady flagged me down," said Reynolds. "I jumped out of the car. The baby was on the ground. The baby's grandmother was trying to do CPR. They shouted the daughter was still up at the pool area. I ran over. There was a young man in the pool standing with his arms outstretched, naked in the pool."

Reynolds pulled Cecconi out of the pool. She died at the scene. The 18-month-old girl died at the hospital.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office wouldn't say anything else about the case Thursday, except the investigation is ongoing.
