Paula Abdul Back for Another Season on 'Idol'

ATLANTA (AP) -- "American Idol" has invited Paula Abdul back for next season and beyond. And, she says she's optimistic about staying on the show as a judge.

But, it's all subject to negotiation of a new contract. Abdul's contract expired after the eighth season and has not been renewed.

There has been speculation that Abdul would be replaced by new judge Kara DioGuardi. But, Abdul says she hopes a deal can be arranged so she can return.
