JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The nephew of Sahel Kazemi says the family is shocked at the news of her death.

"It's shocking. I mean, it's shocking. I don't know what to say. I'm sorry."

Farzin Abdi says Kazemi and Steve McNair dated for the last five months.

He says his family found out about Kazemi's death through the news. "My mom was on the computer, she just started screaming. I was hoping that guy has a lot of girlfriends and it wasn't her. That's the only hope we had."

That hope faded when police confirmed it was her Saturday night. Kazemi was shot once in the head. A gun was found under her.

McNair was shot twice in the head and twice in the chest. The former NFL quarterback's death hits home here in Jacksonville. Jaguars offensive lineman Tony Pashos played with him in Tennessee.

"He was a real good guy to us. He had us over to his house for dinner. He was amazing." Pashos and McNair played one year together.

He says he and McNair sent texts to each other just last season and that McNair was a good friend. "It hurt seeing it, hearing about it. I have to walk away from the TV so it doesn't hurt so bad. My heart goes out to the family."

Two families who are now left trying to make sense of the relationship and what went wrong.

"I didn't know if he was married or anything. But, she was like, 'He loves me, he likes me, I'm so happy about it.' I don't know how we are going to deal with this," says Abdi.

Kazemi was once a student at Englewood High in Jacksonville and Orange Park High.
