TAMPA, FL --The heavy rain forced several Hillsborough County families out of their homes this afternoon.
Hillsborough Fire Rescue personnel used Jon Boats to assist people out of their houses in the 6000 block of 82nd Street in Progress Village.
The American Red Cross is also on the scene to help and a temporary shelter has been opened at the First Baptist Church at 8616 Progress Village Boulevard.
Officials say so far, at least four houses are flooded and six more are at risk.
Meanwhile, students enrolled in summer reading camp or Hillsborough Out of School Time (HOST) at Progress Village Middle Magnet School will be transported to Giunta Middle School on Thursday, July 2, due to street flooding in front of the school.
