NEW YORK (AP) -- The man who wrote the song "You Light Up My Life" has been indicted for rape. Manhattan District Attorney Robert Morgenthau says songwriter-director Joseph Brooks is accused of raping or sexually assaulting 11 women.
Morgenthau says nine of the victims answered an ad on Craigslist seeking women to audition for acting roles. Brooks' assistant, Shawni Lucier, is charged with helping to arrange for the women to come to Brooks' apartment.
Brooks won an Oscar for Best Original Song in 1977 for "You Light Up My Life."
