JACKSONVILLE, FL -- While thousands of young athletes are participating in sports camps on the First Coast this summer, there aren't many people who are brave enough to try pole vaulting.
Some of the area's best in this sport are improving their skills this week at the Episcopal Pole Vault Camp hosted by long-time coach Pat Crandall.
Crandall has been hosting this clinic for 15 years now, and his pupils have enjoyed a lot of success over the years. In fact, the Lady Eagles have claimed an individual state championship in this event for 7 years in a row.
Senior-to-be Paige Shirley is latest in the long line of great vaulters at Episcopal. She won a state title this past school year, and now she's lending a helping to her coach at this week's camp.
