KEYSTONE HEIGHTS, FL -- Lakes surrounding this Clay County community are sharing in the excitement of seeing water again.
Lake Brooklyn and Brooklyn Bay are just two of the lakes that last week saw the water levels rise significantly.
"Everybody is getting excited again," said Dennis Barnhardt, President of the Save Our Lakes Organization.
"It is almost like Christmas. The excitement is in the air. You would think it's Christmas around here."
Barnhardt says it has been five years since the lakes have filled to the point where they stand now.
Above average rainfall partially explains the rising water levels in the lakes. Another factor is the Option 3 pipeline the county built several years ago that helps funnel water from the Dupont mines to the lakes.
"Somebody opened a garden hose full blast," said Barnhardt, who appreciates once again living in a community where lakes have water.
