JACKSONVILLE, FL -- The First Coast Tea Party has a political platform. Now it has an actual platform, too.
Glenn Lord, Sr. built a 38-foot portable platform that looks like one of the ships used in the Boston Tea Party.
The platform has been named "The Dartmouth" - after one of the ships at the original tax protest.
The First Coast Tea Party protests government spending and is working to reduce public spending.
The Dartmouth was christened on Saturday.
"It just upsets me, the kind of world [my son] will live in. The United States is going down and we have to do something. This is what I could do and if I could do more, I will do more," said Lord, Sr.
Lord says he and a friend worked for two months to build The Dartmouth. It is equipped with a sound system, speakers and microphones.
Lord, Sr. plans to debut The Dartmouth at the Freedom Rally & Healthcare March at the Jacksonville Landing on July 2.
He then plans to take it on a road trip to Washington D.C.
