LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Chris Brown's lawyer has lost out in another effort to delay the preliminary hearing in the singer's assault case.
His attorney Mark Geragos has been trying to get hold of records of police files in the case. The lawyer has focused on the fact that someone leaked a photo of a beaten Rihanna to a celebrity Web site. That request was rejected and now Geragos says the hearing should wait until the California Supreme Court rules on whether defendants can have access to certain police files before a preliminary hearing. But that request has also been turned down. At this point, the preliminary hearing is set for June 22.
Brown is accused of assault and making deadly threats against Rihanna. Her attorney says the singer will testify if called upon by the prosecution at the preliminary hearing.
