KEYSTONE HEIGHTS, FL -- When 84-year old Doris Klein heard that full-time broadcasters are being told to turn off their analog signal June 12, she began making preparations.
"I didn't know if I would have to buy a new tv," says Klein.
Klein, like many of her neighbors in the rural community of Keystone Heights, has no cable and no satellite service. Many of the residents rely on an over the air broadcast signal.
"I've got to have my TV," says Klein.
She obtained two $40 coupons from the Federal Communications Commission and purchased two DTV Converter boxes. But getting them installed properly has been a problem.
Carl Buz owns a TV sales and service company and says the last few days have been busy.
"Mostly doing upgrades to antennas and installing converter boxes for those who waited until the last minute," says Buz.
Since Klein already has an outdoor antenna, he installed the converter box on her patio television set, scanned it and it was DTV ready.
The television set in her kitchen already had a DTV converter box, but it was not properly installed.
"My son installed it but said I will have to have somebody else finish it," says Klein.
Buz checked the connections, scan the converter box, and programmed the remote and in minutes her TV set was working properly; this cost her $35.
"I'm glad I will have TV on Friday," says Klein.
